The World is changing; evidence of globalisation is all around us.
While to many the world seems out of control, God is fully in command of all that is happening, and is consistently and surely working out His purpose. And He is calling His Church to take up its global mandate with renewed vision and purpose.
This is part of the new thing that God is doing around the world. As the church begins to strategise and think globally, so we must pray globally. A united and consistent flow is needed in these days of upheaval and violence.
The good news is that today there is a growing tide of prayer across the world - facilitating, connecting and envisioning people across all denominational streams right round the globe.
Part of the facilitating aspect of the church is to connect all Christians together in prayer across the nation- whether individuals, churches or groups in homes, workplaces and the community. Christianity’s role is to:
Encourage all that is happening in prayer to continue.
Respect the diversity of how prayer is expressed.
Be a catalyst for partnership around the UK of praying people and initiatives.
Help resource individuals, groups and churches to make prayer central to their work and mission.
Christians may have many differing personal additional beliefs – but the main trunk of Christianity is built along these branches:
That there is one God in three persons of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit
That Jesus Christ is God incarnate who was born of the Virgin Mary, conceived by the Holy Spirit
That Jesus Christ died on a cross and rose physically from the dead on the third day, in fulfilment of prophecy, in order to provide redemption to all who believe and accept this gift of salvation by grace alone
That human beings are by nature sinful, and all need the forgiveness that may be obtained only through repentance, and by believing in and accepting Jesus’ death and resurrection as redemption for sin
That the Bible is the inspired Word of God and is inerrant in its original form
That one day Jesus Christ will return, evil will be conquered and believers in Christ will have eternal life in fellowship with God
Letton hall is a Christian Conference Centre, situated in a Grade 2 listed Country Hall and an adjacent refurbished stable block (Dolphin Court) in the heart of the Norfolk countryside. Set in 10 beautiful Acres with excellent facilities for groups from 28 to 115. We continue to thank God for enabling us to purchase Letton in February 2007. We have been amazed at the way we have been able to fund the mortgage and still be able to carry out maintenance and some small improvements. We believe that the purchase will one day open the way for significant improvements
And our experience proves this. By no choice of their own, 1.4 billion people in the world live in poverty. They don’t lack ability. They lack opportunity. We provide that opportunity. Through financing, the poor gain vital access to credit. With it, they are able to generate income, support their families and sustain their communities. It is a formula that has been proven time and time again. At Oikocredit, the loans we provide to around 500 microfinance institutions have touched hundreds of thousands of families in some 70 countries all around the world. That’s a difference you can count on.
