Equestrian

In the past horses were important for transport as well as playing a key role in all sectors of industry. Thanks to progress in technology, machines have largely replaced the need to use horses in many places of work but even today there are still some instances where horses prove more appropriate, such as at weddings, funerals or special celebrations, where their appearance has the effect of making the occasion feel very regal and grand.
The magic of horse and rider being so attuned to each other’s feelings and senses that they literally ‘become as one’ has fascinated people throughout the centuries. Today, despite 21st Century technology in the guise of cutting-edge computer and console games, iPods etc challenging our imaginations, those who profess a real love for horse riding remain loyal to this ever increasing past time.
Horse riding is an activity that can be enjoyed by all age groups and people of all abilities and in the West Midlands we are fortunate to have Stoneleigh Park on our doorstep. If you are thinking about taking up horse riding you should seek advice from the British Horse Society (BHS), the largest equestrian membership organisation in the UK. As a charity the BHS is concerned with the welfare of equines, professional qualifications for the equestrian industry, safer and off road riding and recreational competitions such as cross-Country and BHS TREC. The BHS is also the home of British Riding Clubs, the largest movement for amateur riders in the UK.
A wide range of equestrian activities are available in the West Midlands including Eventing, Racing and Show Jumping, as well as Equestrian Holidays which are available in the Cotswolds and Worcestershire.
